ACE-031 Peptide

$189.00$173.00

ACE-031, also known as ActRIIB-IgG1 peptide, is a fusion protein and a myostatin inhibitor. It is composed of a portion of the activin receptor type IIB (ACV2RB) and recombinant immunoglobulin IgG1 FC. The peptide is thought to bind with and block myostatin, a protein that negatively regulates muscle growth. By doing so, it may prevent myostatin from binding to its native ACV2RB receptors on muscle cells, potentially leading to muscle hypertrophy (an increase in muscle tissue size).

Research and Clinical Studies

ACE-031 and Muscle Hypertrophy

A study on ACE-031 showed a pharmacokinetic half-life of 10-15 days. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, a single dose of ACE-031 appeared to increase muscle mass, with a 3.3% increase in total body lean mass and a 5.1% increase in quadriceps femoris muscle volume observed after 29 days. These results suggest ACE-031 may have the potential to stimulate muscle growth.

ACE-031 and Fat Metabolism

Research suggests a link between myostatin and obesity, with higher levels of myostatin found in obesity models. Studies on myostatin-deficient murine models have shown a reduction in age-related fat mass and a decrease in obesity phenotypes. ACE-031, by inhibiting myostatin, may affect fat metabolism through two potential mechanisms:

  • Upregulation of Lipolysis: It may increase the expression of enzymes like CPT1a and CPT2, which are crucial for fatty acid oxidation.

  • Promotion of Brown Fat Formation: It could encourage the conversion of white fat (for energy storage) into brown fat, which is known for its thermogenic and fat-burning properties.

ACE-031 and Muscle Contractile Force

Studies indicate that ACE-031's potential may extend beyond just increasing muscle size. In murine models, the peptide appeared to increase muscle volume by 33% without altering muscle fiber type distribution. It was also associated with a rise in metabolic activity, including a 22% increase in basal oxygen consumption. During strenuous exercise, models treated with ACE-031 demonstrated enhanced performance, showing a 40% increase in maximum contractile force.

ACE-031 and Bone Density

Research on murine models of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) showed that ACE-031 may positively impact bone health. The peptide appeared to cause a significant increase in bone volume by 80% and trabecular number by 70% in the femur. It also seemed to increase bone mass in vertebral tissue. These findings suggest that ACE-031 may promote bone formation while reducing bone resorption, potentially leading to enhanced bone strength.
